Hello,
Thank you for all the emails and comments in response to last week’s post. I haven’t been able to bring myself to respond yet, but your stories and your words of comfort have meant so much. I’ve never been more grateful for this little community here.
This week, I have gotten down to the brisk business of bombarding myself with everything positive and cheerful. I’ll report back on how effective this strategy is. I’m sitting propped up on my sofa, watching The Holiday (Cameron Diaz is just about to punch the douchey ex). I’ve gone on walks every day this week, journaled every morning, had friends around me for most of the day, everyday. This is the first evening since all of this began that I’ve spent an evening alone at home.
Thought I’d leave you with some recommendations and happy-making things:
A friend took me to a puzzle night at Underline Centre, Indiranagar, and it was such a great evening. You can go alone or with friends, choose a puzzle and work on it together. It was quiet, there was soothing jazz playing softly and on the evening we went, it was mostly women, which I really liked.
I just started reading the Cazalet chronicles, after India Knight’s recommendation on her Comfort Reads list. It’s a bit like Upstairs, Downstairs, and the writing is just so good. I know the writing is good when I find myself craving a cup of tea. The last time this happened was when I was reading We Solve Murders.
Speaking of India Knight’s recommendations, I love her newsletter, and think it would make for such a great gift. Getting someone a year of paid subscription to a newsletter you know they’d enjoy is a really thoughtful gift.
I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this before, but I’ve been trying to do a little bit of yoga everyday following this channel on youtube. Haven’t done it in 3 weeks, but otherwise, everyday 🥲. I love her videos, and find the flow and timing so much nicer than Adrienne’s, who always ends up making me want to shout at the screen.
Padmini recommended this youtube channel that I’m now obsessed with. I really love her life advice and I have An EMOTIONAL TSUNAMI // dating story + estate sale shopping + facing my fears! bookmarked to watch next :)
I’ve been eyeing this cup and this one too from West Elm. The first one has a little chimney for the steam to come through, I mean!!!! They’re pricey, but would make for a nice gift.
I made the herb stuffing from What’s Gaby Cooking last week and it was so good.
Oh, there’s a Candied Ginger Sticky Toffee Pudding that’s up on Malabar Tea Room this week.
This incense stick kit from Already Blessed is so nicely done. I felt soothed just opening the box. I haven’t had a PR package that I’ve loved this much in a long time.
As always, thank you for reading! If you liked this post, could I ask you to share it, please? <3
